From search and rescue to logistics, transportation, and surveillance, helicopters play a vital role in numerous fields, providing unmatched advantages as essential air vehicles. As their missions and operational needs continue to evolve, the importance of engineering excellence in both design and functionality grows stronger. In response to this demand, the Helicopter Design Competition, organized by TUSAŞ as part of the TEKNOFEST Technology Competitions, challenges students to define the operational requirements of a helicopter system and develop its conceptual design phases.
For the TEKNOFEST 2025 Helicopter Design Competition, participants are expected to design a rotary-wing aircraft capable of performing critical missions, such as marine traffic control, disaster zone surveillance, and providing internet connectivity. The designs must meet specific requirements, including sustained flight for at least 10 hours at 5,000 feet in 30°C conditions, the ability to carry mission equipment, execute takeoff and landing on designated runways, and address various operational needs.
The competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as university graduates, who may participate individually or as part of a team. Encouraging participants to push their creativity and technical skills to the highest level, this prestigious competition offers cash prizes to the top teams: 120,000 TRY for first place, 100,000 TRY for second place, and 80,000 TRY for third place.
