Within the scope of the competition, the authors of YÖK doctoral dissertations containing the topics related to the thematic program announced by TÜBA every year can apply individually; in the fields of technology and design, information and communication technologies, education, health, agriculture and ecology technologies and biotechnology, as well as in the fields of social sciences including international relations, development policies, educational approaches and security policies, and authors who have completed their defense within the last 2 years (2023, 2024) can apply. In addition to individual applications, applications for the TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Award can also be made institutionally by TÜBA Members, as well as recommendations by YÖK, TÜBİTAK, TÜSEB and University Rectorates.
The TÜBA-TEKNOFEST Doctoral Science Awards Competition, which is organized to encourage, support and reward doctoral dissertations written in our country, can be participated in four categories: Science and Engineering Sciences, Social and Human Sciences, Health and Life Sciences and Basic Sciences.

Education, Health, Agriculture and Ecology Technologies, Biotechnology and International Relations of the National Technology Move, Development Policies, Educational Approaches, Security Policies are among the contents that young people can participate in the competition.
In the award program, where doctoral theses will be evaluated by scientific evaluation processes, the first thesis author will be awarded 100 thousand TL, the second will be awarded 80 thousand TL, and the third will be awarded 65 thousand TL.
