The High School Students Climate Change Research Projects Competition encourages young people not only to understand the global climate crisis but also to develop solutions. Offering the opportunity to develop projects across a broad range of fields through 6 main categories and 22 subcategories—including Environment, Economic Sectors, Air and Climate, Sustainability and Well-Being, Water Research, and Social Awareness—the competition enables students to approach real-world problems with a scientific perspective. Topics such as the protection of natural resources, increasing the climate resilience of cities, and reducing carbon emissions are being reconsidered through the innovative ideas of young participants. In this respect, the competition is seen not only as a project process but also as the beginning of a broader social transformation.
The High School Students Polar Research Projects Competition invites students to scientifically explore the polar regions, which are among the most challenging and least explored areas of the world. With its interdisciplinary structure spanning life sciences, earth sciences, physical sciences, as well as social sciences and humanities, the competition aims to contribute to a better understanding of the polar regions, which lie at the heart of the global climate system. Topics such as melting glaciers, ecosystem changes, and the strategic importance of the polar regions come together with young people’s scientific curiosity, offering new perspectives and insights.
While students who place in either competition can win awards of up to 90,000 TRY, the primary benefit is emphasized as the development of scientific thinking skills, research culture, and a global vision. These important programs aim to nurture young people as knowledge creators rather than mere consumers, playing a critical role in Türkiye’s journey in science and technology. With applications closing on March 23, this major opportunity awaits all high school students who aspire to shape the future.
