The competition, coordinated by TÜRK ALTIN İŞLETMELERİ A.Ş., seeks to develop environmentally friendly and high value-added national technologies that will reduce external dependency in critical raw materials such as rare earth elements, lithium, and boron. By placing young engineers at the center of this transformation, the competition redefines mining not merely as an extraction activity but as a strategic field shaped by advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, and sustainability.
Within the scope of the competition, participants are expected to develop projects focusing on advanced ore processing technologies; exploration, monitoring, and measurement systems designed with domestic software; autonomous mining applications; artificial intelligence integration; occupational safety solutions; and environmentally responsible production models.
Offering a broad vision—from transforming strategic minerals into high-value end products to smart and autonomous mining vehicles, AI-supported planning software, and the recovery of valuable metals from waste and e-waste—the competition also emphasizes environmental responsibility through sustainable water management and rehabilitation solutions.
University students studying in Türkiye or abroad—including associate, undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and open education students—are eligible to apply. In addition, graduates, startups, and private sector representatives can also become part of this major technological initiative. In this way, academia, industry, and the entrepreneurship ecosystem come together around a common goal.
Teams that achieve top rankings in the competition will be rewarded with Republic Gold Coins. The first-place team will receive 18 Republic Gold Coins, the second-place team 12 Republic Gold Coins, and the third-place team 6 Republic Gold Coins. However, the greatest reward of this competition will be contributing to Türkiye’s technological independence in strategic mining and developing national engineering solutions.
Application Deadline: February 28
We invite all young talents and technology entrepreneurs who aspire to lead the digital transformation of mining, AI-supported production, and environmentally responsible engineering to apply for the TEKNOFEST 2026 Mining Technologies Competition.
