The idea of developing a roadable aircraft that can be used for private or public transport has been around since the beginning of the 20th century. This concept is still in development phase today, and will certainly be carried into the future. It is widely believed that flying cars will be among the vehicles of the future.
This competition aims to deliver a concept for a “Flying Car” that can navigate safely from one destination to another in human-populated areas, including densely populated regions, or between residential areas.
This year, the competing teams are also required to develop a true-to-scale model of their flying car design. The technical requirements and assessment criteria for the vehicle are as follows:
The design must meet the following criteria.
- Vehicle Specifications
- Air Traffic Management System
The competing teams are also expected to demonstrate their flying car design in a simulation environment.
Eligible Participant Education Levels for the Competition
- High School Students
- Associate Degree Students, Undergraduate Students, Graduate Students and PhD Students
- University Graduates
- Preliminary Design Report
